Green Career Pathway

The Green Career Pathway at the Urban Ecology Center provides accessible personal and professional development experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds to connect to self, nature, community, and environmental careers to cultivate growth, exploration and empowerment.

On this Page:

The pathway begins as early as our NEEP field trips, fostering an early connection with nature and the outdoors. The pathway continues with our paid high school and adult internship programs (more info on these programs down below). Beyond that, the Green Career Pathway is a great way to form connections and networks within the environmental field in Milwaukee. We have an amazing pipeline of alumni who are doing impactful work in the city, and around the country!

The GCP program emphasizes a lens on diversity and inclusion. A forest needs a variety of trees, plants, and wildlife to thrive. We call this biodiversity. Much like a forest, we as a community thrive in diversity when people of all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities are part of working towards creating a cleaner, happier, healthier planet.

Alumni

Through our Green Career Pathway program, we have seen success in interns gaining green career or educational opportunities following their internship experience with the Urban Ecology Center. Outdoors is a unique opportunity to supplement and to reinforce science concepts taught in class with hands-on activities after school.
