PEEP Partnerships

The Urban Ecology Center offers nature-based early childhood experiences for childcare centers, preschools, and kindergarten classrooms during the traditional school year (Sept – June). These long-term, multi-visit partnerships build mentor relationships between the youngest children in our neighborhoods and our nature-based early childhood educators!

There are three types of experiences with a PEEP Partnership

Near-space Programs

For Toddlers, Preschool, and Kindergarten Ages (2-6)

Let’s explore the outdoors at your location. Our nature-based early childhood educators are experts at interpreting the nature on your property. There’s so much to discover right outside your doors!

In-School Programs

For Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool Ages (1 - 4)

Have us come to your location for fun, age-appropriate indoor programs. Starting at age 1, these visits foster curiosity, confidence, and general knowledge through play and active learning.

Field Trips to the Urban Ecology Center

For Preschool and Kindergarten Ages (3 – 6)

Come visit the Urban Ecology Center with your early childhood classroom! Every visit offers fresh air and exercise for your young explorers and the essential direct experiences that foster a child’s love for nature and science. We provide the learning, the fun, and the transportation!

Transportation

All PEEP field trips to the Urban Ecology Center include transportation on our buses. Transportation is for one class, the classroom teacher(s), and up to two chaperones. All UEC buses are equipped with 5-point harnesses to ensure the utmost safety for your precious cargo. Our early childhood team will be ready to meet you and your group at the agreed-upon time, near the entrance of your learning center or school.

Dress for Success

All PEEP programs at the Urban Ecology Center take place outdoors. Children, teachers, and chaperones should do their best to dress for the weather. With inclement weather, outdoor activities may be shortened, but unless the weather is severe, we will always spend as much time outside as possible. Please note that the Urban Ecology Center keeps a supply of Just-in-Case Clothing for those who don’t have or forget to bring proper outdoor gear.
