Our Home in Washington Park

Our Washington Park location was opened in 2007 to serve more neighborhood schools with our acclaimed Neighborhood Environmental Education Project. Now open to the public, after school programs for kids and community programs and activities for the whole family keep this branch humming with activity. We invite you to visit! This historic Milwaukee County Park has so much to discover!

Directions

By Bus

Visit Milwaukee County Transit System's website and use the Google Trip Planner to get door to door directions by bus! We are located near the #30 and #57 bus routes. If you take route 30 get off the bus on Roberts Street. If you take route 57 get off the bus on North 40th Street.

By Bicycle

The Urban Ecology Center at Washington Park is not on the Oak Leaf Recreational Trail, but its bordering streets do have bike lanes. We are located near the park entrance on 40th street between Lisbon Avenue and Vliet Street. When you arrive you will find bike racks on the lagoon side of our building. See the map of the park here to find your bearings.

Parking Information

The closest parking lot in Washington Park to the Urban Ecology Center is off of 40th Street between Lisbon Avenue and Vliet Street. Enter from 40th Street into the parking lot adjacent to the County Parks Service Yard (north of the swimming pool). It’s best to park in this lot and walk along the driveway to the building with the Urban Ecology Center sign on it. There is limited parking available near the building as well.
