Let's Go Snowshoeing!

Have you ever been snowshoeing before? If not, now may be the perfect time to give it a try! We've had wonderful weather for winter adventures lately, and every branch has been bustling with people of all ages borrowing snowshoes and hitting the trails. The amount of snow on the ground right now at all three of our locations is ideal for snowshoeing - we recommend around 6" to a foot (or more!) of snow.

To get started, check out our latest "how-to" video with Terrance, Visitor Services Specialist at our Washington Park branch and discover some snowshoeing basics! We promise you'll learn a thing or two, and be inspired to get out and take some snowshoes for a spin.

The Urban Ecology Center lends snowshoes (and sleds, and skis!) to all members for free, and we have sizes for little ones, adults, and everyone in between. All you need to bring are weatherproof shoes, warm clothes, and your sense of adventure! Give us a call to reserve some winter gear today, or find out more about becoming a member here. As Terrance says, we'd love to see you and your family out in one of our parks (or inside with a cup of hot cocoa after your first successful showshoe outing!) this winter.
