Get More Climb for Your Dime with our 2013 Climbing Pass!

Along the East Side of Milwaukee’s Oak Leaf Trail, some 40 feet in the air, stories are being made. Stories of fear overcome, of goals achieved, and of limitations shattered. I’m not talking about some sort of theater of the birds; the protagonists of these stories are the victorious rock climbers on the Urban Ecology Center’s very own rock climbing wall! And now you can add your own story to the rock wall’s vaunted history for a greatly discounted rate. The Urban Ecology Center is now selling rock climbing passes that essentially allow you 5 climbs for the price of 4! The details of the climbing pass are below, but first a word about our wall.

DSC 0185 5The Wall:

Perhaps you’ve seen it while traveling south along the Oak Leaf Trail; the behemoth of multicolored rocks is hard to miss, especially when there are climbers shouting “whoo hoos!” and “huzzahs!” as they reach the top. The 40 foot outdoor climbing wall at the Riverside Park branch of the Urban Ecology Center is Milwaukee’s tallest, and is perfect on these warm summer days. The wall is fit for all skill levels, with easier routes for first timers and some tricky cracks and juts for more experienced climbers. If that’s not enough our climb leaders might have some fun challenges to throw in; want to climb the wall blindfolded? With your legs tied together? Consider the challenge extended!

Why Climb?

Come to our wall if:

  • You have kids who are currently climbing up the outside of the chimney or repelling from your banister. As an irrepressible climber of things myself, I say encourage this behavior! But for the sake of your furniture, bring them out to our wall for a couple hours and let them release all their pent up altitudinal aspirations.
  • You’ve never climbed before and are looking for a new and exhilarating experience. It’s 100 percent safe, and a thrilling time even if you only make it a few feet up the wall!
  • You’re training for a climbing trip to Devil’s Lake, Yosemite, even Everest. Pick out your own challenging routes and take advantage of the sheer height of our run.
  • You want a unique workout for your body as well as your beliefs about what you think you’re capable of.
  • You’re looking for a great idea for a birthday party!

When Can I Climb?

You can come to our wall and climb during any of our “Open Climb” sessions. These sessions occur:

  • Tuesdays 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Sundays 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Show up any time during our Open Climb hours, pay the climbing fee, and climb as many times as your arms and legs will allow! The cost is $8 for child ($10 for non member children) and $10 for adults ($12 for non member adults). Those are the prices, unless you love climbing enough to purchase...
