Allie Rolandi

Allie is married with pets (two dogs and two cats, to be exact!) and lives on the west side of Milwaukee. Surrounded by the beauty of the driftless region of Wisconsin, Allie grew up near La Crosse and spent summers tending a large garden with her grandfather – an experience she now credits with informing her choice to pursue an education and career focused on environmental justice. When not enthusiastically sharing and supporting the Urban Ecology Center’s mission as Facility Rental Coordinator, Allie enjoys reading, walking her dogs, and enjoying all Milwaukee has to offer with her husband.

Upon the creation of Milwaukee’s first Park Commission in 1889, among the first projects undertaken were the construction of Lake Park, River Park (today known as Riverside Park) and Newberry Boulevard, which served as a connection between the two. In an effort to bring prestige and order to these new landmarks, the Commission hired famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, designer of New York’s Central Park, to head up the project.
