Frogs and other amphibians are important parts of the ecosystem and can be an indicator of its health, as they are very susceptible to pollutants. The Urban Ecology Center has been conducting frog monitoring for over a decade throughout Milwaukee County, contributing to a larger database used by the Wisconsin DNR. You can help us monitor population trends by participating in calling surveys. Volunteers conduct frog calling surveys after sunset and record which species they hear in multiple locations throughout Milwaukee County. Citizen scientists can assist researchers or learn how to conduct their own surveys and contribute valuable information to the project.
