    Green Resources

Whether you're building a worm composting system or sustainable building materials, the Urban Ecology Center can help you find ways to change your everyday life in order to live more lightly on the earth. From compost to vermiculture, water collection to community supported agriculture; we can help you begin projects that will change your perspective and habits.

You’ll never look at a worm the same way again.

“To do the right thing for the environment is good in concept but very hard to implement. If you go to a vendor and ask about the recycled content, embodied energy or VOC (volatile organic chemical) level of their product, they either have no idea what you are talking about, have no easy way of figuring it out or add a premium to the cost because of the green attribute. For those who care about this type of thing (and we hope this will soon be everyone on the planet), wouldn’t it be nice to have a place to get the information needed, see and touch sample products, read or hear testimonials, compare prices and get suggestion for vendors and installers?”
    — Ken Leinbach, Director of the Urban Ecology Center

There are thousands of pages on the web dedicated to many of the topics you’ll see in our Green Resources section. We encourage you to use our site as a beginning as you think about the earth in your daily choices. In particular you’ll find links to organizations and information that relate specifically to Milwaukee area.
