Our Board of Directors

The Urban Ecology Center is guided by a committed, hardworking board of directors who collectively help formulate policy and also provide oversight through service on one of five subcommittees: Governance, Personnel, Marketing, Development, and Finance. In the early days, the board consisted primarily of people from the neighborhood around the Center. As the organization has grown, the board - while still maintaining its community ties - has expanded to include members with specific areas of expertise, including nonprofit administration, technology and development.

Urban Ecology Center Mission Statement

The Urban Ecology Center fosters ecological understanding as inspiration for change, neighborhood by neighborhood.

Our Environmental Community Centers:

• Provide outdoor science education for urban youth.
  
• Protect and use public natural areas, making them safe, accessible and vibrant.
  
• Preserve and enhance these natural areas and their surrounding waters.
  
• Promote community by offering resources that support learning, volunteerism, stewardship, recreation, and camaraderie.
  
• Practice and model environmentally responsible behaviors
