    Calling All Environmental Artists!

The Urban Ecology Center is looking for artists interested in showing their work in our Community Room Gallery.

To enhance the Center’s educational mission, artwork must have as its theme: nature-related subjects, the natural sciences, natural products used as art or the relationship of the urban environment to nature.

Selected artwork will be displayed in one of the quarterly shows: January through March, April through June, July through September, and October through December. Art Opening receptions will always be on the first Sunday of the month beginning an exhibit.

Please see this Request For Proposal or click "read more" below for details.

Criteria for Community Room Gallery exhibits:

To enhance the Center’s educational mission, artwork must have as its theme: nature-related subjects, the natural sciences, natural products used as art or the relationship of the urban environment to nature.  Work submitted in response to the RFP and selected by the Center’s arts committee must be consistent with what you have available for exhibition.

    Details:

Selected artwork will be displayed in one of the quarterly shows: January through March, April through June, July through September, and October through December. Art Opening receptions will always be on the first Sunday of the month beginning an exhibit.

The Community Room/exhibit space also serves as a meeting room and classroom that is used daily. The exhibit space has approximately 90 linear feet of wall display area and each show typically exhibits two artists concurrently. Artists are responsible for hanging their work using the gallery system. Help can be made available and an arts committee member will oversee it. The Urban Ecology Center provides the space, notifies its membership of the exhibit through a printed newsletter, email blasts, and social media for which artists are asked to submit a title and a 50-word description of their art show. While the Center will promote the art show, artists are responsible for their personal mailing list. Art work may be made available for purchase with a 20% of sale price contribution to the Urban Ecology Center. The Urban Ecology Center carries insurance for these exhibits.

Lastly, artists are welcome to present workshops, talks, or classes relative to their work at the Center

    Application Process:

    • Submit 5-10 images of art work in slides, JPGs, PowerPoint, or 5x7 prints.
