The Urban Candlelight Hike at Three Bridges Park

Even during the winter, there is so much life in our parks! In fact, the Urban Candlelight Hike at Three Bridges Park is one of the most lively events throughout the year.

On February 3, the Hank Aaron State Trail will be illuminated with hundreds of candles for an event that is unique in our city. The Urban Candlelight Hike is a wonderful opportunity to embrace the experience of the cold and darkness of winter.

As a friend of mine likes to say, "when you can see your breath in the cold air, it proves you’re alive!" At the Urban Candlelight Hike, you will have the opportunity to enjoy several winter activities, including:

• Two miles of trails lit with candles on the Hank Aaron State Trail - this event will take place with snow or without snow!

• Roaring Campfires- there is an additional campfire on the trail this year!

• 6pm & 7pm: Gourmet S’more Bar with REI

• 5: 30-7: 30pm: This is your chance to ride a "fat tire" or electric bicycle! Wheel & Sprocket will have FREE demonstrations with bikes to try. All ages and abilities are welcome.

• 8-10pm: After-Party presented by NEWaukee at Third Space Brewing (a brewery in the Menomonee Valley)

All the activities above are free. You can also buy "fun passes", for $ 10, with which you receive:

• Hot chocolate and snacks at the Urban Ecology Center (while supplies last)! Bring your thermos to carry the cocoa on your walk!

• Toasting marshmallows at the campfire with Friends of the Hank Aaron Trail (Friends of the Hank Aaron State Trail)

• Entry into door prizes drawing, including: $ 100 Gift Card from Wheel & Sprocket, Gift Card for $ 25 to Twisted Fisherman Restaurant, Rishi Tea Award Package, REI Outdoor Equipment

• A free beer at the party after the event at Third Space Brewing.

At the Urban Ecology Center, we believe that every day is a perfect day to be outside, and for the Urban Candlelight Hike, it can be a perfect night to be outside too!

• 6pm & 7pm: “Gourmet S’more Bar”
