The Center’s committed, hardworking staff is a creative mix of educational backgrounds and work experience. The full- and part-time staff members include those with bachelor's and master's degrees in biology, history, education, communication and business, to name a few. All of them are passionate about developing new models of environmental education and environmental mentoring. They "walk the talk" — from bicycling to work (even skiing to work in the winter!) to sharing a hybrid car (donated by a Center member) to earning an "ecobuck" for each day they get to and from work not using fossil fuels.
Our Board of Directors
The Urban Ecology Center is guided by a committed, hardworking Board of Directors who collectively help formulate policy and provide oversight. In the early days, the board consisted primarily of people from the neighborhood around the Center. As the organization has grown, the board — while still maintaining its community ties — has expanded to include members with specific areas of expertise, including nonprofit administration, technology and development.
Our Advisory Council
In addition to the Board, the Urban Ecology Center gains valuable assistance from an Advisory Council. Council members have extensive experience in the world of nonprofits and have been supportive friends of the Center through the years. They have agreed to formalize their support by providing their expertise as needed and supporting our fund raising initiatives as they are able.
