Urban Ecology Center's 2nd Annual Solstice Soiree and Auction a Success!
Folks at the Urban Ecology Center can't seem to stop being role models for environmentally friendly living. Even at its 2nd Annual Solstice Soiree and Auction the silent auction featured items for “green” living or getting out into the “green” and everything in between.
According to Ken Leinbach, executive director of the Urban Ecology Center, “By getting kids outdoors we help them develop a love for nature and provide them with a different kind of education they cannot receive in a four-walled classroom. We can change their lives, we can change the life of Milwaukee, and, in small but important ways, we can help change the world.”
The Urban Ecology Center is a private, non-profit organization nationally recognized as a leader in urban environmental education, park revitalization and community improvement. The Center is dedicated to providing area school children and families with educational explorations of the natural world right in the heart of their urban community. Children enjoy outdoor, hands-on learning through crafts, hiking, rock-climbing, canoeing and biking. A number of summer youth day camps are offered as well.
Proceeds from the invitation-only event supports the Center’s mission.
